Teen Leadership Programs

Our camps, schools, families, and communities are all in need of good leaders.  At Camp Wabansi, we are commited to building solid leadership skills in our teens.

Introductory Counselors
Age 12 and up

Take the first step to unlocking your leadership potential.  Introductory Counselors (IC's) will learn fundamental leadership qualities as they engage in counselor shadowing, team-building activities, and discover how the core values of honesty, caring, respect, and responsibility build great role models.  IC's will be under the guidance of the Leadership Director as they gain skills that they can truly take home with them.

Note: All first-year teen leaders begin their leadership experience as an IC.

Teen Leader registration will open in January 2011.  Watch for details.

Junior Counselors
Age 13 and up

Put your new leadership skills into practice.  Junior Counselors (JC's) will build upon the skills developed in the IC program as they partner with a cabin group throughout the week and help to plan and lead camp activities including large group games, songs, and cabin activities.

Note: Previous participation in the IC program is required.

Teen Leader registration will open in January 2011.  Watch for details.

Assistant Counselors
Ages 16 & 17

For teens looking to fully realize their leadership potential, the Assistant Counselor (AC) program is the final step in Camp Wabansi's leadership progression.    AC's will plan and lead camp activities, assist in the Camp Store, act as a liason for cabin groups, accompany special groups on out-of-camp trips, be a positive example for our younger teen leaders, and work side by side with the Camp Wabansi counselors to learn what it takes to become a well-rounded staff member.

AC's are selected by application and interview. Space is limited.  Details will be available in January 2011.
