General Camp Information
Summer day camp for ages 7-12 runs in weekly Monday-Friday sessions during the months of June, July, and August.  Bus transportation from Green Bay is provided.

Camp Wabansi also offers a progressive teen leadership program for ages 12-17.

Campers and Teen Leaders do not need to be YMCA members to participate.

Camp Wabansi never turns away participants due to their inability to pay for camp.  Financial assistance is made possible through the Greater Green Bay YMCA's Strong Kids program.  Contact the YMCA at 920-436-9622 for more information.

Summer Camp Goals
Camp Wabansi strives to provide a fun, safe place for campers to gain meaningful experiences in their beautiful outdoor environment.
Our mission is to develop personal character through the emphasis of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility through all of our camp activities.

Camp Activities
Wabansi campers will rotate through various program areas with their counselor throughout the week.  Our classic camp activities include:

  • Swimming
  • Boating/Canoeing
  • Arts & Crafts
  • Nature
  • Drama
  • Archery
  • Outdoor Living Skills
  • Sports & Games
  • Team-Building/Initiatives

For more experienced campers (ages 9-12), Camp Wabansi offers specialty camps that allow campers to enjoy advanced activities and field trips. Click here to view a sample daily schedule.

Parent Night
Thursday night is special at Camp Wabansi.  Parents, relatives, and friends are invited to join the fun!  Campers and their guests enjoy a grilled hot dog dinner, meeting the counselors, taking a tour of camp, and laughing the evening away as campers take center stage to perform hilarious skits and songs!  There's bound to be some surprises, too - the staff may put together a skit of their own!

Optional Overnight
Campers can choose to spend the night at camp on Thursday night after the Parent Night program.  After bunking down in one of our rustic cabins, campers enjoy an evening all-camp game, campfire, snack, and witness some of camp's oldest legends come to life!  Parents consistently tell us that spending the night at camp with friends and counselors was a great step of independence to take with their child.

Camp Traditions
Camp Wabansi has been serving campers and families for over 55 years.  Timeless traditions include decorating a piece of clothing on memorable Tie-Dye Tuesdays, cooking lunch over the campfire on Weenie Roast Wednesdays, dressing up and competing in game extravaganzas on Theme Day Thursdays, and playing in the waves at Whitefish Dunes State Park on Fabulous Fridays.  Want to learn more about Camp Wabansi's history?  Click here.

Cabin Groups
Campers are carefully placed into small groups with other campers of similar age and same gender.  Each group belongs to a caring counselor who leads the campers through their various activities during the week.

The Staff

Camp Wabansi's counselors are carefully chosen for their work ethic, sense of humor, love for the outdoors, and ability to relate to children.  Many of them are pursuing degrees in child care or education.  Waterfront staff are certified lifeguards.  All staff members are at least 18 years old, are certified in First Aid and CPR, and complete a comprehensive interview process and background check prior to hire.
